Sun is one of the earliest historians who gave lectures in Lecture Room. He is the professor in History School of Nankai University and an expert on Chinese society and history. Sun graduated from Nankai University in 1975 with a doctor degree, and is now working as the deputy director of ancient Chinese history teaching and research section for history education and research of China. He has taught history in Nankai University for over 30 years, whose class, brief introduction of Chinese history, is popular.  

Sun focuses on the education and research of Chinese history and has published over 10 monographs and 20 theses with education quality prizes and good teacher prizes. Sun’s major works include Ancient Chinese History (1979, People's Publishing House), Ancient Chinese books history (1990, Shanghai People's Publishing House), the Selection of Shih Chi (1990, Zhonghua Book Company), Scholars and society in Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties (1992, Tianjin People's Publishing House), Chinese Chronicle, New Edition (1995, Shanxi Education Publishing House), History of Chinese Dynasties (1996, Guangxi People's Publishing House), Record of Chinese culture: Social Class System (1998, Shanghai People's Publishing House). His section is the state-level key disciplines and specialties.
